A Father's Mission for Families Like Ours
My daughter and first born, Payton, was born with a rare genetic condition. She is partially missing a chromosome that is critical for building essential organs. She was diagnosed at 2 months old, and my wife and I were told she may never walk or talk.
She had 5 surgeries in 2 years and we started early intervention therapies immediately. We quickly learned that we were on our own. We had great doctors, but no singular doctor or medical professional helping us figure out each step of our journey.
Payton is doing wonderfully now. But we often think about the tens of millions of children like Payton out there – families who are navigating developmental delays, special needs, rare conditions or diseases, chronic conditions, and more.
The more of them we meet, the more we realize that our experience with Payton is not unique, but shared. There has to be a better way.
